Famed custom-built bushplane Draco crashed today attempting to leave Reno. All three occupants escaped uninjured but the plane is a total loss. Pure pilot error and he owns it. Sucks, but glad everyone onboard was safe.

I’m south of Reno and can attest to how crazy the winds were today.  This crash is all over the news here.

Also had snow from about 7000' up.

Well, that sucks. I’ve called off a day of flying because of wind conditions before. Now I feel much better about that decision. It’s still sad to see such an interesting plane get totaled because of a bad decision.

Never heard of Draco, don’t know much about small planes, but I saw a crop duster working its magic on my way to the Toledo Jeep Fest and holy hell was it impressive. That pilot was either crazy good or just crazy.

I remember watching it here. Oh well, planes can be rebuilt. Good thing no one died or was seriously injured. Live to fly another day.

That sucks. But glad the people are ok. Saw them and the plane a t Oshkosh two years ago and they seemed pretty down to earth.
